Acupressure for Stress & Remedial Massage

Massage is a well known antidote for stress. It is one of the oldest of health practices, found in ancient Chinese medical texts written some 4,000 years ago. Hippocrates advocated massage in the 4th century BC, as have many doctors and health professionals since then.

I started getting massage when I was working in finance in Brisbane. I started getting bad headaches at first, then migraines and I didn't realise it at the time, but also early stages of panic.

At first I started leaving work early, as I didn't feel able to continue to work productively. As the symptoms continued, I quickly realised that it wasn't sustainable to keep going home, and so tried an array of treatments ranging from medication to acupuncture.

One lunchtime I had a particularly nasty headache forming and rang a local therapist to see if they had a vacancy and they did - the result was outstanding. Not only did the headache begin to ease, but I also felt more alert and my energy levels increased. I found that on the days that I had a migraine or panic arising, if I could get into to see a massage therapist, I could turn the day around and not need to go home.

This sparked my interest, so when I was made redundant, twice in the following two years, I went off to study Remedial Massage and have been practising it ever since, for over 6 years now. I use and prefer both Acupressure for Stress – a seated style of massage, where I go into the work place and also Remedial and Sports massage.
Here’s what a recent client had to say about her treatment:

“My name is Wendy and I have had neck and shoulder problems for 15 years, mostly from tension caused by stress. I met Nick through his lovely wife at work.

One evening when I was in a lot of pain and had very little range of movement in my neck and right arm, I received one of the best treatments I had ever had. Believe me..... I've had a lot of massages and treatments over the years. Nick was quickly able to identify my problem areas and worked on the trigger points until they dissolved. He made me feel so comfortable and at ease. He is a very kind strong man with a big heart. He is far more than a massage therapist alone.

Nick sees things from a holistic view ... the body, mind and spirit. I believe he can see far more into your health and well being than just your muscles and skin he's massaging. I would recommend Nick to anyone particularly those who suffer from stress and need more a 'treatment' than just a massage.”
